Terms of Service
The terms that govern using The Turn.
Last updated September 2026.
1. Agreement to these terms
These terms govern your access to and use of The Turn ("The Turn," "we," "us," or "our"), the software described below. By creating an account, accepting a league invitation, or otherwise using The Turn, you agree to these terms. If you're accepting on behalf of a league or organization, you're confirming you have the authority to do so, and "you" refers to that league or organization as well as to you personally.
2. The service
The Turn is software for running an amateur golf league: season and schedule management, roster and substitute tracking, course and handicap data, score entry (by hand or by scanning a printed card), standings, skins, and dues tracking, one season at a time, per league. Some features, like tournaments and automated notifications, are still on our roadmap and not yet available.
3. Accounts and roles
A league is created and administered by a commissioner, who invites golfers, scorekeepers, and other members by email. Each person keeps one account across every league they belong to. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized access.
Some pages are reachable without signing in by design — for example, a substitute call-out link or a live-scoring link generated from a printed scorecard's QR code. Anyone who has that specific link can use it for its intended purpose. Don't share these links anywhere you wouldn't want that access to go.
4. Fees and payment
A league's commissioner pays a season fee based on roster size, described on our Pricing page. Golfers invited into a league do not pay The Turn directly for access. A league may separately choose to collect season dues from its own members through the product; those payments are between the league and its members, and The Turn is not a party to them. All payments, whether the season fee or optional dues, are processed by Stripe — we never see or store your full card number. Fees are non-refundable once a season has started, except where required by law.
5. Your content and data
You're responsible for the accuracy of the roster, scores, scorecard photos, and other information you or your league enters. You retain ownership of that content; you grant us a license to store, process, and display it as needed to provide the service to you and your league, including sending scorecard photos to a third-party AI vision service to read printed scores. We don't sell your data to third parties. See our Privacy Policy for more on what we collect and why.
6. Scoring and handicap accuracy
The Turn calculates handicaps, points, and standings from the scores entered or scanned into it, using the World Handicap System formula and the scoring rules your league configures. We work to make this calculation correct and to keep an audited history of every change, but we don't guarantee the software is free of errors, and we're not responsible for disputes between league members over a score, a handicap, or a result. Your league is responsible for resolving those.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use The Turn to harass, defame, or abuse another user
- Submit fraudulent payment information
- Attempt to access another league's data without authorization
- Share a substitute or live-scoring link outside its intended purpose
- Scrape, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the service, or attempt to bypass its access controls
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with a league
We may suspend or terminate access for an account or a league that violates these terms.
8. Intellectual property
The Turn's software, design, and branding are ours. These terms don't grant you any rights to them beyond what's needed to use the service as intended. Feedback you send us about the product may be used without obligation to you.
9. Termination and data retention
A commissioner may stop using The Turn for their league at any time; we may suspend or terminate an account for a violation of these terms or nonpayment. We keep a league's data for as long as the league is active. If you want your account or your league's data deleted, contact us and we'll take care of it, subject to what we need to retain for legal, accounting, or dispute-resolution purposes.
10. Disclaimers
The Turn is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted availability. This is an actively developed product; features may change, and we don't guarantee the service will be error-free or available at all times.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Turn and its operators aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount your league paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the service or your violation of these terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product changes. Material changes will be announced to active commissioners before they take effect.
