Privacy Policy
What The Turn collects, why, and how it's protected.
Last updated September 2026.
1. Scope
This policy describes how The Turn ("The Turn," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our golf league management software. It applies to commissioners, golfers, and anyone else who reaches a page of the product, including the unauthenticated substitute and live-scoring links described below.
2. What we collect
When you or your commissioner set up an account, we collect your name, email address, phone number (optional), and golf handicap information. If you play in a league, your scores and results are stored so your league's standings and handicap history can be tracked accurately over time. If you submit a substitute request or a live-scoring link, we log the minimal information needed to make that link work.
3. Scorecard photos
When a commissioner or golfer scans a paper scorecard, the photo is sent to a third-party AI vision service to read the scores printed on it. The photo and the extracted values are stored so a human can review and correct anything the model misread. We do not use these photos to train any AI model.
4. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate the service — scoring, handicaps, standings, scheduling, and dues tracking
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure
- Process season fees and, where a league opts in, dues
- Communicate with you about your account, your league, or changes to the service
- Maintain the audit log that records who changed what, for your league's own accountability
- Diagnose and fix problems with the service
We don't use your information for advertising, and we don't sell it to third parties.
5. Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers that help us run The Turn, each bound to use it only for that purpose: Stripe (payment processing), Supabase (authentication and database hosting), a third-party AI vision service (reading scanned scorecards), and an email delivery provider (account and league notifications). We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of The Turn, our users, or the public.
6. Payments
Season payments and, where a league chooses to collect them, dues, are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number — Stripe handles that directly.
7. Cookies and sessions
We use a session cookie to keep you signed in, provided by our authentication provider (Supabase). We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
8. Data security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit and role-based access controls scoped to your own league's data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
9. Data retention and deletion
We keep your league's data for as long as your league is active. If you want your account or your league's data deleted, contact us and we'll take care of it, subject to what we need to retain for legal, accounting, or dispute-resolution purposes.
10. Your rights and choices
You can review and correct most of your own information — your roster entry, contact details, and scores you're responsible for — directly in the product. For anything else, including a request to access, correct, or delete your personal information, email us and we'll respond within a reasonable time.
11. Children's privacy
The Turn is intended for use by adult league commissioners and golfers. We don't knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we'll remove it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product changes. Material changes will be announced to active commissioners before they take effect.
